The Official MUSIC CITY JAZZ, BLUES &
HERITAGE FESTIVAL returns better than ever!
Labor Day Weekend 2009
Nashville's
Riverfront Park nestled on the bank of the Cumberland River with
its lush greenery and the historic backdrop of the Downtown
District provides the perfect setting for the Music City Jazz,
Blues & Heritage Festival. The two-day
Festival will take place over the Labor Day Weekend Holiday
9/5-6/2009. Thanks to the hard work and collaboration of many,
this weekend-long event founded & produced by Nothing But Love,
LLC, continues with the intent for all music lovers to gather in a
family atmosphere, hear great music, and celebrate diversity in a
safe and fun environment.
Now in its 7th year, the Music City Jazz, Blues
& Heritage Festival has established itself as one of
Nashville’s signature events, drawing attendance from throughout
the United States and abroad. The melodious sounds of Jazz,
Blues, Reggae, Funk, Gospel, Soul, and R&B are featured in a
musical montage for all to enjoy. Music has a way of bridging
cultural gaps that exist in our society. Riverfront Park,
with it's picturesque views and manicured landscaping, will host
the Music City Jazz, Blues & Heritage Festival (MCJBHF), an
entire weekend full of entertainment, attractions, shopping, food,
fun, and most of all, MUSIC!
This year's featured performer is Boney James,
one of the most respected and best-selling instrumental artists of
our time. Boney continues to consolidate his longstanding
reputation as a major force in both the worlds of Contemporary
Jazz and R&B. Called "the best kept secret in today's music
scene", Boney James has "quietly" released four RIAA
certified Gold albums, been honored with a Soul Train Award and
earned an NAACP Image Award nomination. He has also been nominated
for two consecutive Grammy's in the "Best Pop Instrumental Album"
category. With a live show that Radio & Records called "a must
see" and Variety said "raised the roof," Boney affirms,
"The communal experience of playing live - that's why I became a
musician in the first place. It's exciting and liberating. It
never gets old for me."

The Music
City Jazz, Blues & Heritage Festival is
a well-received breath of freshness that many feel has a permanent
place in the growth and fabric of the city. The conversation around
the city amongst people who attended last year is that, "Nashville
really needs to have more of these'' and that ''We're just loving
this. Finally, it's something besides hip-hop and all the other
stuff.''
"(The)
goal is to have Nashville embrace 70,000 tourists each Labor Day
weekend for the football game, band competition and jazz
& heritage
festival." Nashville
