MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of The NBL Foundation, Inc. is “To empower communities with the vital tools to manage family relations, cultivate cultural competency and build ethical leaders.”

PURPOSE

The NBL Foundation has a three-fold purpose:

1. Provide immediate scholarship support for at-risk, underserved youth to attend college. Our goal is to build a scholarship endowment that will provide scholarship opportunities for rising youth to attend college into perpetuity.

 2. Support the entrepreneurial efforts of aspiring businessmen and women. We will assist in the personal and professional development of those who display the drive, passion, and commitment it takes to become successful in the global marketplace.

 3. Participate in community development initiatives that provide opportunities for communities of color, typically underserved populations, to have a proper and decent education, viable employment opportunities, safe, adequate and fair housing, and the chance to make the "American Dream" a reality for all citizens.

Empowering Communities By Cultivating Leadership...One Person At A Time!"

What is Empowerment?

Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social or economic strength of individuals and communities. It often involves the empowered developing confidence in their own capacities. Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes. Central to this process are actions which both build individual and collective assets, and improve the efficiency and fairness of the organizational and institutional context which govern the use of these assets.

Empowered people have freedom of choice and action. This in turn enables them to better influence the course of their lives and the decisions which affect them. In essence empowerment speaks to self determined change. It implies bringing together the supply and demand sides of development – changing the environment within which poor people live and helping them build and capitalize on their own attributes. Empowerment is a cross-cutting issue. From education and health care to governance and economic policy, activities which seek to empower underserved individuals and communities are expected to increase development opportunities, enhance development outcomes and improve people's quality of life. NBL "Tough Love" Youth Enrichment Program

The overriding purpose of the YEP is to provide a safe-haven for troubled youth, often referred to as “those kids”, while fostering an environment that mitigates the acceptance of societal stigmas, perpetuated by the lack of compassion, knowledge and understanding toward disadvantaged citizens.  These youth are God’s Children and our children; we bear an obligation to nurture and educate them, while cultivating their relationship with the Spirit of Christ that exists both in them and all mankind.

This curriculum-based program is provided by Nothing But Love on a consultative basis to organizations that are truly interested in making an impact in the lives of youth, many of which are truly underserved in many ways, and require our immediate love, attention, and guidance if they truly are to become productive citizens in this society.

Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them, and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.  But Jesus said, “Suffer little children, forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”  And He laid His hands on them, and departed thence.  Matthew 19:13-15

Below is a photo gallery of pictures from the Summer 2004 Tough Love YEP held at George Jordan Institute of Learning in Brentwood, Tennessee.  This eight-week program combined academic enrichment, discipline, recreation, exercise, field trips, conflict resolution, diversity training, guest speakers, character development, creative writing, and more all in an effort to develop ethical decision makers for future generations.  The age range of our youth was 7-13yrs. with teens 14 and up utilized as Junior Counselors in an effort to provide essential job-training skills while placing them in a responsible position to mentor the younger members of the program.
